Closure of South African Child Protection Unit |
| This petition tells readers that the South African
government is planning to close the Child Protection
Unit despite the large number of cases of child rape
occurring in this country. It urges people to add their names to the petition and forward it to as many people as possible. Once the list of names has reached a certain length, the reader is asked to forward the message to an email address supposedly belonging to the South African police. Sadly, child rape is indeed a big problem South Africa. Although the details of the cases mentioned in the petition aren't accurate, many other horrible cases have been reported. However, the South African government has no intention to close the Child Protection Unit, which has recently been renamed and is now called the Family Violence, Child Protection And Sexual Offences Unit (FCS). Additionally, the email address the petition is supposed to be sent to, does not exist. So the list of names is never collected anywhere. Please do not forward this petition as the information in it is not correct and it serves no useful purpose. If you really want to help children in South Africa, there are many other ways to do this, such as donating to the Nelson Mandela Children's fund (see link below) |
